Unique country club to be built in Dawsonville (Dawsonville Advertiser)
By A.J. PUCKETT

Country clubs evoke certain images, but 3.14 miles of asphalt does not normally come to mind. The Atlanta Motorsports Park has plans to change that.

The Atlanta Motorsports Park will have all the service and amenities that would come from an upscale country club, according to Scott Tranchemontagne.

City of Dawsonville planners are recommending rezoning so that the group can move forward with development and currently reviewing the project.

"The Atlanta Motorsports Park will be the country club for the driver that wants to push his or her car to it's limits in a safe, controlled and best of all an un-patrolled environment," said Tranchemontagne.

While Georgia is well known for its racing history and numerous racetracks, Atlanta Motorsports Part promises to be something completely unique in several ways. First, there will be no spectator events, so the park will not create traffic or crowding issues for Dawsonville. Second, the Club will voluntarily adhere to noise limits, out of respect for neighbors.

"We want to be good stewards to the citizens of Dawson County and not be a problem for the people around us," said the Park's founder Jeremy Porter.

The Atlanta Motorsports Park will sit on 162 acres with a possibility for another 300 acres of expansion. It will also offer 10,000 square foot clubhouse with private lockers and shower facilities, a member's only lounge and a patio that overlooks the road course. There will be a pool, hiking trails and tennis courts.

"The initial project itself would bring in about $4 Million tax boost to the county in the next eight to 10 years," said Charlie Auvermann, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Dawson County.

According to Auvermann that this development will be beneficial for the area, as well as the economy. It will also provide 25 new jobs for the country club alone and more when the phase two is started and the shops, restaurants and lodging facilities are completed.

According to the developers the Park will have it's own emergency services so that it does not cause a strain on the local emergency services.
